For players
Before your first tournament
Your club keeps its tournaments in this app: who is playing, where you sit, your scores, and the standings. The first two parts of this list are done once, at home, and take about ten minutes. The rest is what your phone does on the day. Tick things off as you go — the ticks stay on this phone.
Before you come
Ten minutes at home, so the app already knows you when you walk in.
Open the link your admin sent you. If it lands on Sign in, press New here? Create an account.
Give your first name and last name as the club knows you — that is how your admin recognises you on their list — then an email and a password. Nothing else is asked.
The email is for signing in and for a lost password, and nobody in the club sees it.
Done when: You are signed in and the app is asking for a club code, or already shows your club.
If your admin sent you a link, opening it does the whole thing — the club code is inside it. If they sent a link to a tournament instead, open that and press I'd like to play in the next tournament.
If they read you a code, sign in and type it where the app asks. There is also a QR code on your admin's phone for anybody in the room.
Then wait. Your admin has to let you in and say which name on the roster is yours — that is a press on their phone, not yours, so nothing you do speeds it up. On Your record there is a Check for updates button for seeing whether it has happened yet.
Done when: Your record says That's you, with your name on it.
The Club is your home page. The next tournament is at the top, with the date, the hall and a Directions link. Press The cost, the set up, where, and what to bring to open the details.
If your admin has put you in, the card says You're playing, and offers Maybe and Can't make it. Press one if it changes — your admin's phone is told. Maybe is not a seat: say yes when you know.
If the tournament is taking sign-ups, the card offers I'd like to play. One press puts your name down.
You can take yourself out right up until the tournament starts. After that, tell your admin — a phone can't take a player out of rounds already dealt.
Done when: The card says You're playing.
Pre-tournament setup
Your phone, set up once, so it tells you things and knows where to send you.
It is a website, so there is nothing to download from an app store. Putting it on your home screen makes it open like an app, full screen, and on an iPhone it is the only way notifications can reach you.
iPhone: open the site in Safari, tap Share (the square with the arrow), then Add to Home Screen, then Add. Safari, not Chrome — Apple only allows this from Safari.
Android: open the site in Chrome, tap the three dots at the top right, then Add to Home screen or Install app.
From then on, open it from the icon rather than from the browser. The name under it is Euchre.
Done when: There is a Euchre icon on your home screen, and opening it shows no address bar.
Open the app from its icon, go to Your record and turn on Tell me on this device. Your phone asks once whether to allow notifications — say yes.
From then on this phone hears four things and nothing else: you're playing, when your admin seats you; the tournament has started, with your table and partner for round one; round N is in, with who is leading; and results are up, when it is finished. No reminders, no adverts.
It is per phone, not per person. Switch it on again on any other device you want told.
Said no by mistake? The app cannot ask twice. On an iPhone it is in Settings, under Notifications, next to Euchre. On Android, tap the lock in Chrome's address bar and turn Notifications on.
Done when: The switch shows on, and the card no longer tells you to add the app to your home screen.
Subscribe once and every tournament of the club appears on your phone's calendar with its address and start time, and moves by itself when your admin moves it. A cancelled one stays on, marked cancelled.
iPhone or Mac: press Add to iPhone or Mac calendar and confirm. Google or Outlook: press Copy link for Google or Outlook — the card says where to paste it.
Don't forward the link. It is yours: it opens your clubs' tournaments, addresses included, without signing in. Anybody else can get their own from their own record.
Done when: The next tournament is on your calendar, with the hall's address on it.
Optional. Press the pencil beside your name and Add a phone number. It is how your admin reaches you on the day — a change of hall, a late start, a seat that opened up.
It is not used for the notifications above; those need no number.
Done when: The name card reads Your club can reach you on, with your number.
Light or dark — the menu at the foot of the screen has a light, dark and Auto switch. Dark is easier on the eyes in a hall at night.
Questions — the Q&A link beside it answers the things that come up on the day, and your admin can answer the rest.
On the day: your scorecard
Where you sit, who you're with, and the boxes for your scores.
Until the tables are drawn the card says so and waits. The moment your admin presses Start, your phone is told your table, your partner and who you are against for round one, and the card fills in.
Across the top, a pill for every round. The one you are on is green. Each round's card reads Round · Table, You and your partner, and against the pair across from you. If your club uses player numbers, yours is there too.
The card is your side of the table. Your partner has one just like it, and so does everybody else in the room.
Done when: You can read your table number and your partner's name for round one.
We got euchred — tap it every time the other pair euchres you. I won a loner — tap it when you go alone and take all five tricks. Tap them as it happens, so nobody has to remember at the end of the round.
Each tap makes a sound — a ching for a euchre, applause for a loner. The speaker button at the top of the card turns them off if the room would rather not hear it.
A tap only fills in a box; nothing is sent until you save the round.
When the round ends, put in Your team's score. You and your partner must enter the same number — that is how the app catches a slip. If your club pays a loner to the player who called it, the box reads Your score instead and the two can differ by exactly those loners.
Euchres against you and Times you went alone are filled in by the taps; check them. Each opens a follow-up — How many of those did you call? and And how many did you win? — that is yours alone to answer.
Press Save round 1. Rounds go in in order — the app will not take round 3 before round 2 — because a score nobody wrote down at the time cannot be worked out later.
If you and your partner disagree, both cards say so in amber and neither number counts until one of you changes theirs. Read the round with them and fix the wrong one.
Done when: The card says Saved — you and your partner match, or that it is waiting on them.
Leaderboard — the standings so far, with your own row marked, updated as tables come in. The line under the title says how many tables are in. If your admin is holding back the last round, it says that instead, and the board stops one round short until the end.
Side pot — only if your club runs one. Who is in it and who is leading.
Your rounds — every round of the tournament: your table, your partner and your opponents for each, and the rounds you sit out. The line under the title says who you play with most.
Who's playing who — the whole room, round by round, every table. There is a Find a player box for seeing where somebody is sitting.
Prize table — what this tournament pays, from the entry fees and the euchre jar.
On a phone they start folded so the card stays on top. On a laptop the Leaderboard and Your rounds start open.
Keep scoring. A round saved with no signal is kept on your phone, with an amber note saying so, and goes up on its own the moment the signal is back — even if you have closed the app. Don't type it again.
An app opened from the home screen has no swipe-to-reload, so if the card looks stale, press Refresh at the top. It also asks the club by itself every time you come back to the app.
A bar at the foot of the screen with a Reload button means a newer version of the app has shipped. Press it; nothing you entered is lost.
Afterwards
Where the tournament ends up, and what it says about you.
Results are up arrives on your phone when your admin finishes the tournament. The Club shows who won and what it paid.
The stats is the club's boards: most wins, most money, best average placing, and the Power score — one number out of 100 for how strong a player is. Set your own bar and Recent results change how you read them; they change only your screen.
Your record is you: tournaments played, wins, best finish, what you have won over the years, every tournament you have played, and Your company — who you win most with, and who has your number.
Treasury is the club's money, in and out, for anybody in the club to read.
Something on the day this page does not cover is probably in the Q&A, and whatever is not is a question for your admin.
