The club's boards, the way your players see them

Every tournament the club plays adds up here: who has won, the leaders on every board and each player's own record. This is Circle Jones's phone, so their rows are marked.

Wednesday League · how it worksThe format, the points and the rules

HOW THE LEAGUE WORKS

Teams of two play together all season.

Each week your team plays 3 games against the team on the schedule.

Each game is played to 10 points.

There are no ties. If a game or a match is level, the teams play one more hand to find the winner.

HOW STANDINGS ARE CALCULATED

For every game: winners receive 2 points and losers receive 0 points.

A team that forfeits receives 0 points; the team that turned up receives 2 points.

Numbers in brackets are wins or losses by forfeit.

PI = Power Index

The Power Index is a strength-of-schedule figure: the sum of the ranking points of every team you have beaten. It uses each team's points as they stand now, so it moves as those teams win and lose. Beating a team twice counts their points twice. A forfeit win doesn't add to it.

TIEBREAKS

Teams level on points are separated by head-to-head, then points scored, then Power Index, then fewest losses.

SCORING A HAND

Make trump and take three or four tricks: 1 point. Take all five: 2 points.

Go alone and take all five: 4 points. Go alone and take three or four: 1 point.

Fail to take three tricks: you are euchred, and the other team scores 2 points (2 points as well if you went alone).

You must follow suit if you can. You never have to play trump unless trump is led.
